Laptop Repairs - Cannock

Nine times out of ten, failed laptops can be repaired. There’s not really that much that can go wrong. A lot of the time it’s a failed mechanical part like a Disk or Power Supply, or a fan. The most expensive part of a laptop computer is the CPU or Processor. These only tend to fail when they overheat. However there are many mechanisms built into the laptop to stop that from happening.

Of course a failed disk that isn’t backed up can be devastating. There are many tools out there that can recover failed drives. Worst case scenario there are specialist labs available that can open the disk and retrieve data from it. Of course, this can be costly, but if that drive contains your life then it’s worth it.

Many customers throughout Cannock have trusted The IT Fella to get their laptops repaired and back up and running quickly.

Due to the unique build and portability of a laptop it is much more common for a laptop to need repair. From drops and spills to overheating components, laptops take a lot of punishment.

This also means that laptops tend to be the hardest to upgrade. So many components are built into the main motherboard which usually means a complete replacement board is needed. The IT Fella also sees a lot of broken laptop screens. Some of these problems are occasionally just a loose connection, which is easy to fix, other times they are complete replacements.

The good news is that most of the time laptops can be repaired. Depending on the age of the machine and availability of parts of course.

FAQ's

The IT Fella knows just how difficult it is to lose access to your computer for even a few hours. In most cases I can have your computer back to you same day!

Sometimes it may be necessary to take your computer for slightly longer. Usually this is just overnight and I have it back to you the next day.

In all honesty it is difficult to tell. This is partly down to the software you have installed on your computer already and other components such as Memory and Processor. But let me give you an idea of past jobs.

8-10 year old machine
Startup time to point of opening a program = 1 min 52 seconds.
Following the Upgrade = 23 Seconds.

This particular customer did still notice that when using the computer it was slower than they expected but still much quicker. This was purely down to the processor being older and slower.

2-3 Year old machine
Startup time to open a program = 1 min 26 seconds
After upgrade of SSD and Memory = 14 seconds

This customer was really pleased with the upgrade. It made such a huge improvement on what they were used to.

Absolutely. As part of the upgrade we clone your current drive to the new SSD. This means an exact copy of your current data stays on your existing drive, so in effect you have two copies. We leave the original drive in your computer when we hand it back to you, after all it’s yours with your data.
